Lunatiq Heathcote Shiraz
Wine
Tyrrell's Lunatiq Heathcote Shiraz is sourced from the oldest and most consistent blocks of the winery's Heathcote vineyard, planted on the eastern slope of the Mount Camel range.
The grapes are taken to the Hunter Valley for vinification. Most are destemmed but not crushed to preserve as many whole berries as possible; a small, handpicked portion is included as whole bunches.
Several days of cold soaking is followed by open fermentation. Gentle pump overs maximize colour and flavour without over extracting tannins.
The wine completes malolactic fermentation and ages for 12 months in new and seasoned French oak. The best barrels are blended and matured further before bottling.
Deep garnet, Tyrrell's Lunatiq Heathcote Shiraz has rich dark fruit flavours and mineral texture, with fruit and oak tannins joining in a silky finish. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
